Humberto Chavez
I started started boxing at 17 years old. I was introduced to the gym by a friend of mine, that attended local gym in Conyers, Ga. I fell in love with the art and was hungry to grow. I continued to learn and improve. After all, fighting was always in my nature. Especially, after being a kid from Asbury Park, New Jersey.
After the local boxing gym closed down, I started looking for other boxing gyms in the Atlanta area. I came across a gym called Bangkok Boxing and Fitness. I trained under lengandary fighters Khunpon and Champion Jo Nattawut. There I learned and got a strong foundation for Mauy Thai.
While training at Bangkok boxing, I met Xavier Biggs. The owner of Decatur Boxing Club. He started mentoring me and started improving my boxing skills. Under him, he taught me style, rhythm, footwork and technique. My boxing improved dramatically.
In 2018, I started training at American Top Team Gwinnett but now know as Gwinnett Training Center. I started training under head coach, Amir Dadovic and his two brothers Douglaus Lima and Dheigo Lima. I started to learn various forms of martial arts, such as grappling, Jiu Jitsu, and wrestling. I started competing about a few months later and got my first mma victory.
I became the lightweight NFC Champion, in 2019 and won two awards. I won Amateur Male Kickboxing fight of the year and Amateur Kickboxer of the Year. My journey is just beginning and I have a lot of work to do. I will continue to work hard, putting God first in everything I do and become who I'm meant to be. It's time for me to put in the hard work and my journey continues...
